Before you do any advertising free or paid you have to track your ads. You have to know where your traffic is coming from and also which ad copy is converting to leads or sales for you. This way if you posting to 20 free classifieds a day and only 2 of them are getting you traffic, you know that you don't have to waste your time with the other 18 and only concentrate on the traffic sites.
You also have to test all your ad copy because on free classified sites it is the copy that is going to make people click on your ad. If it is not that strong you will not get any traffic even if you post to a higher traffic website.
You need to first grab the readers attention with a strong catchy headline and make your ad very small just a couple of lines followed by your website URL.
